Recession doesn’t get much traction at Bloomfield, Renaissance

PEARL — Almost five years ago, shovels plunged into dirt on land adjacent to Interstate 20 in Pearl. Less than a year later, Mississippi had a Double A baseball team whose parent club, the Atlanta Braves, is as popular as some of the college sports teams in Mississippi.

PEARL — Spectrum Capital, a privately held real estate development company affiliated with The Yates Companies Inc., reports that Rankin County has awarded The Outlets at Bloomfield tax increment financing (TIF) in an amount not to exceed $11 million.

Bass Pro Shops Drawing Tourists, offering Meeting Space

Bloomfield is mentioned in The Clarion Ledger: It might best be described as a feeding frenzy. When the Bass Pro Shop opened its doors for the first time in Pearl in November 2005, thousands of shoppers and "sightseers" jammed the store just off Interstate 20 and forced late-arrivals to park across the street at Trustmark Park. It would be hard to imagine a more successful debut.

Mississippi Braves Building on First-Year Foundation

The construction of the team's home field, Trustmark Park, ran up until the opening pitch of the season and beyond. And Hurricane Katrina was another unexpected occurrence.
